Cornell announces road and lot closures for 2009 Commencement Weekend

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell University has issued a list of special changes for roads and parking lots on campus in order to accommodate numerous activities scheduled for Commencement Weekend, May 22-24. The university appreciates everyone's cooperation in helping to make the weekend safe for the thousands of visitors on campus for the ceremonies.

Parking Lot Closures

The following lots will close at times noted below, with any remaining vehicles towed:

• Sage Hall Parking Lot: closing at 5 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 24.
• Crescent Lot: closing at 5 p.m. Friday until approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.

Parking Lot Closures

The following lots will close at 1 a.m. on Saturday morning, with any remaining vehicles towed:

• Parking Garage (except for mobility-impaired permit holders): closed until approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday.
• Barton Hall east end parking spaces: closed until approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.

Road Closures

• Campus Road: closed from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., from Garden Avenue to the Bartels Hall metered lot, to all traffic for the Convocation event at the stadium.

Parking Lot Closures

The following lots will close at 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 24, with any remaining vehicles towed. Lots will reopen at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, unless noted below.

• Parking Garage (except for mobility-impaired permit holders): closed until approximately 2 p.m. Sunday.
• Day Hall parking lot and loading dock: closed until approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday.
• ILR parking lot: closed until Tuesday, May 26.
• Garden Avenue parking spaces: closed until approximately 3 p.m. Sunday.

Road Closures: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted

• Campus Road from West Avenue to College Avenue, eastbound lane only (8 - 11 a.m.)
• Campus Road between College Avenue and Tower Road.
• West Avenue, southbound lane (8 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
• East Avenue, buses only.
• Hoy Road.
• Garden Avenue, between Campus Road and Tower Road, buses only.
• Wing Drive, between Campus Road and Tower Road, buses only.
• Judd Falls Road, between Tower Road and Route 366, buses only.
• Tower Road, between East Avenue and Judd Falls Road, buses only.
